The man and the woman, whose bodies were found under mysterious circumstances inside a hotel in west Delhi's Rajouri Garden area on Saturday, were in an illicit relationship, police said on Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased woman was married to the cousin of the deceased man, identified as K Suresh, 29. Suresh had been living at the woman's house in Uttam Nagar, where her husband found the two in a compromising situation on October 20. He then asked the two to leave the house.

"The two checked in to the Hotel Aman Deluxe and were found dead the same day. The hotel staff had taken the identity proof of only the man and not the woman. The couple had lied to the hotel staff that they were married," said Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

Police further said that in the suicide note, the woman had mentioned that the fear that her husband would spread the news about her affair had prompted her to take the extreme step. The woman was a native of Kerala and worked as a nurse at the RML hospital.

According to Suresh's family members, the police informed them about the suicide. Suresh, meanwhile, had left the house on the pretext of work, saying that he was going to Rajasthan.

According to the police, the recovered suicide note was written in a regional language. The man had addressed his mother in the note, in which he that he did not blame anyone and apologised for taking the extreme step.
