Karishma Chaudhary, in her early 20s, cannot forget June 3. She had just completed her Bachelor of Architecture from a renowned institute and was interning with a company. On the fateful day, she was returning home from office when she was targeted by two snatchers.

“ I got down at the Govindpuri Metro station and was walking towards the Kalkaji Bus depot when two boys, in their late 20s, tried to snatch my phone,” Karishma said. “I resisted. After that attempt failed, one of them tried to snatch my sling bag. The sling was still in my hand but it suddenly detached from the bag and they managed to take the bag, which had my Aadhar card, debit card, and some cash,” she added.

Karishma said that while all this was going on, not a single person standing around came forward to help her.

Speaking more about her ordeal, she said: “I went to register a complaint to the nearest police station. After much delay, the cops finally registered a complaint, which mentioned nothing about the snatching and stated that I lost my purse. When I asked why there was no mention of the snatching, the officer on duty said if they register a snatching case, I will have to come to the police station regularly.”
