The Delhi Police's Special Cell has busted an arms syndicate active in Delhi-NCR and arrested two men with a big cache of arms, which was to be supplied to small but notorious criminal gangs in Delhi.

The two men arrested have been identified as Ramgopal alias Fauji (52) from Etah, and Naseem alias Jabir (37), a resident of Munger in Bihar. Police said that 20 pistols including semi-automatic and 180 live cartridges of .32 bore pistols have been recovered. The instruments used in preparing these illegal firearms have also been seized from the house of Ramgopal where the duo had been running an illegal firearms manufacturing factory.

The cartel was busted on Wednesday after the police received a tip-off that a new syndicate of firearms supply was active in Delhi NCR, and that a large number of illegal firearms are being pumped into the Capital from the Munger (Bihar) region via Etah. Following this, Ramgopal's residence was identified, and following a raid, the two men were arrested.

During interrogation, Ramgopal told the police that he had came in contact with one Naseem alias Jabir about 10 years ago, who lured him to firearm manufacturing and supplying. "Initially, Ramgopal procured illegal firearms from Naseem and delivered the same to criminals in Delhi and NCR, but after being trained by him in manufacturing and assembling of arms, he started his own cartel," said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP Special Cell.

"The cost of manufacturing a pistol is between Rs 8,000 to 10,000, Ramgopal said, but they sold it to notorious criminals for Rs 25,000 to 30,000," Yadav said.

The details of Naseem (37) have also been disclosed and efforts to nab him are underway. He also belongs to Munger and s involved in manufacturing and supplying of illegal arms for the last 20 years.

The police fear that these ganglords may be involved in supplying the cache of arms to terror groups.
