Cop shot dead in front of police station

The Delhi police have registered a case of murder in the death of a constable who died of a gunshot wound in front of Vijay Vihar police station on Wednesday. Initially the police had suspected it to be a suicide case but now they are suspecting the role of another cop.

Head Constable Rajesh was found lying in a pool of blood outside Vijay Vihar police station's gate by one of the staff. "Rajesh was talking to another colleague. Suddenly I heard gunshot and by the time I reached the spot, he was bleeding heavily" said the staff. Rajesh was taken to near by Baba Sahib Ambedkar (BSA) hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Though initially the police was looking at suicide angle, the family members of the deceased alleged murder. After receiving some confidential inputs, a case of murder was registered in Vijay Vihar police station. A specialised forensic team of doctors from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was also called on the spot to probe.

The investigation of the case has been handed over to the crime branch of the Delhi police and a board of doctors has been formed to get the postmortem done. "Considering the circumstances and family members concerns an investigation in the matter has been handed over to the Crime Branch of the Delhi police," said Rishi Pal Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rohini district.
