A 35-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by two unidentified men in south Delhi's Chittaranjan Park area on Sunday night. The police suspect personal enmity or robbery behind the murder and are trying to identify the assailant.

The deceased was identified as Dashrath Mukhia, who worked as a cook in one of the houses at Godavari Apartments in the area. According to locals and witnesses, the incident took place when he was waiting at a bus stop to board a bus back home, the police said.

"It was around 10 pm on Sunday that the police control room received a call reporting that a man had been stabbed near Yamuna Apartments in the area. When a police team reached the spot, they found Dashrath, a resident of Tughlaqabad Extension, lying in a pool of blood. The victim had deep injuries on his chest and was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where he was declared brought dead," said Romil Baaniya, DCP south.

Preliminary investigation revealed that two men on a bike stopped in front of Mukhia at the bus stop. After a five-minute pause, the duo attacked him and sped away.

The officer said that a case of murder has been registered at the CR Park police station and that police teams are scanning through the CCTV footages of the area to ascertain the sequence of events. The police are also examining the mobile phone of the deceased which was found intact.
