Contract killer on the run for 2 yrs, arrested

The Delhi Police have arrested a contract killer who had killed a woman in April 2016, after her husband hired him and his associates for the job. While six men were arrested within a week of the incident, including the woman's husband, three had been absconding.

The man arrested on Tuesday was identified as Sandeep Kumar, a BSc graduate and a resident of Palwal in Haryana. He was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his arrest and had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court.

According to Joint Commissioner of Police, Alok Kumar, it was on April 20, 2016, when one Lalit Dahiya, a resident of Gurugram, reported that while he was going to drop his wife Monika at her father's house, two unidentified persons intercepted their vehicle and shot his wife dead at the main Raghopur Road near Gurugram.

During investigation, it was revealed that Dahiya himself had hired killers on contract to get his wife killed as he was in a relationship with another woman. The six accused, namely Lalit Dahiya, Aakash Sehrawat, Diksha, Sahil Khan, Sumit and Manish were then arrested, while three others identified as Dinesh, Sandeep and Samsuddin managed to be at large. All were declared offenders with a reward of Rs 25,000 on their arrest.

Kumar said, following regular surveillance of the movements of the suspects, on February 20, accurate information related to Sandeep's movements were received. He was arrested following a raid, from a highway near Kosi, Mathura. "During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had helped the accused contract killers in procuring the murder weapon from one Samsuddin of Mathura. Since then he has been evading arrest by continuously dodging the local police of Chhawla area in southwest Delhi," the officer said.

THOSE INVOLVED

The six accused in the woman’s murder were Lalit Dahiya, Aakash Sehrawat, Diksha, Sahil Khan, Sumit and Manish.  The three who were absconding are Dinesh, Sandeep and Samsuddin.
