A contract killer and two other criminals have been arrested by the Special Task Force with the help of the local police in connection with the triple murders of BJP worker Shiv Kumar Yadav and his two gunners last month. All the 3 were arrested from Greater Noida on Monday.

According to the police, the main accused has been identified as Arun Yadav, who hired an informer Dhramdutt Sharma and Naresh Tewatia, an active sharp-shooter of Anil Bhati gang and committed the murders.

"On Monday morning, we got a tip-off that a criminal is going to execute a crime in Greater Noida. So we laid a trap near Khairpur village and as soon we spotted the accused, we nabbed him," said Abhishek Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (STF).

The accused was identified as Naresh Tewatia. During interrogation, Tewatia disclosed that he had committed many murders in the past and was an active member of the Anil Bhati gang.

"Tewatia started working for Anil, who is the nephew of famous criminal Sunder Bhati. He also disclosed that two weeks prior to the murder of BJP leader Shiv Kumar, Arun Yadav had contacted his gang leader Anil Bhati to kill Kumar and gave Rs 10 lakhs to them," Singh added.

With the help of Tewatia, the police nabbed Yadav and Dharamdutt Sharma on Monday. During interrogation, Yadav revealed that "in 2000, the deceased Shiv Kumar's father Charan Singh was murdered in Bahlolpur area by a local person Satan. It was a case of local dispute in the village and Satan was being supported by Arun Yadav's father Mahender Singh. However, Satan was arrested," said Luv Kumar, Senior Superintendent Of Police (Gautam Buddha Nagar). The SSP said later in 2004, Mahender Singh died in a road accident in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad and his family, including son Arun Yadav suspected that it was a murder planned by deceased Shiv Kumar.

Police said Yadav was then 17-year-old and always nursed a grudge against Shiv Kumar. To eliminate the BJP leader, Arun Yadav and his associate Dharmdutt Sharma contacted Anil Bhati, a gangster and made a deal with him.

"Anil Bhati was given Rs 6 lakh in advance and was supposed to take Rs 4 lakh after the murder. Bhati roped in shooter Naresh and two others for this crime. Earlier, it was planned the BJP leader will be attacked on November 12 following which Yadav and Dharmdutt Sharma went to Thailand so that they would not be suspected for it. However, the plan failed as Shiv Kumar went for a trip to Nepal and Pilbhit," added Kumar.
