After the successful completion of its trial runs last week, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will open the Majlis Park-Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus line for inspection from February 26 to February 28. The Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will inspect this section of Pink Line, which is expected to get chugging after Holi.

The DMRC has received all the necessary clearances for the 20.6-km long route of line 7 including fire safety clearance, license for working lifts, preliminary independent safety assessment (ISA) reports for signalling and platform screen doors. The corporation had sent papers for scrutiny and detailed examination by CMRS that involved detailed data on civil, electrical, signalling and track. It was after this that the DMRC was given a date for inspection.

The section has 12 stations including three interchange stations at Azadpur, Netaji Subhash Place and Rajouri Garden. The Metro train will also cross Dhaula Kuan at a height of 23.6 metres (as high as a seven-storey building) to reach South Campus from Majlis Park.

In the beginning of this month, the rail body also held test runs on the 10.47-km elevated stretch between the I.P. Extension and Maujpur of the Pink Line. Trains on this route will chug using the new signalling technology, Communication Based Train Control (CBTC). The DMRC had monitored the response of the train at different speeds, braking and the interconnection with the Operations Control Centre behaviour of the track system. This section from I.P. Extension to Maujpur consists of 9 elevated stations, i.e. I.P. Extension, Anand Vihar, Karkardooma, Karkardooma Court, Krishna Nagar, East Azad Nagar, Welcome, Jaffrabad and Maujpur Station.
