Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday met with Anganwadi workers at his residence to take stock of their grievances. Speaking on the attacks on several anganwadi centres and workers in the past few days, Kejriwal assured them of action and all possible help.

"Security for you all is our responsibility. I will talk to the L-G and will also meet him to appraise the situation. I will ask him to direct the Delhi Police to do the needful," he said.

Workers had complained of attacks and threats to them from a union, which is protesting. They said that the protesting union was upset with them for working and wanted them to stop their work.

The workers also demanded a hike in salary. "In a week or so, you will get a salary hike, a handsome percentage hike. We are here for you and will take care of everything," he said.

On the complaint of the quality of food at the centres, the Kejriwal said that the quality will be improved in consultation with the anganwadi workers.

Some anganwadi workers complained of the poor facilities at their centres.

"We have started our model anganwadi centre, the first one is in Pitampura where there are four centres and all of them are better than the private crèches. We will build similar centres all over Delhi with the best infrastructure so that parents send their kids to our centres rather than a private crèche," he added.

The chief minister also assured to fill up vacant posts which will help ease the workload of staff members. He also said that he will look into the process of promotion and the issues raised by them. He also said that none of the staff will lose job because of any mergers of centres.
