A Class seven student died while his friend sustained grievous injuries after the motorcycle they were riding on rammed one of the railings of an under construction Public Works Department (PWD) flyover in north west Delhi's Mukundpur area on Tuesday morning.

The duo was over-speeding and the impact was such that they both fell off the flyover. The police officials are investigating if the duo were performing any stunt or if they could not control their speed.

According to police, the incident took place around 7am on Tuesday when the deceased Karan Dutt alias Kannu (15) a resident of Mukundpur left for his friend Akash's residence just two lanes away from his house on his Bullet motorcycle.

Later, the two decided to set out for a joyride on the under construction flyover. It may be noted that the flyover did not have any barricade or warning signboard which could have also prevented the duo from entering the flyover.

As per the locals the two were over speeding due to which their bike got disbalanced on the turn and hit the railing of the under construction bridge and both of them fell down from the flyover. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital by the locals and a police was informed as well. Dutt was declared dead on arrival while Akash sustained multiple injuries.

Police stated that once Akash gains consciousness the sequence of events will be clear. However they believe that it was him who was riding the motorcycle while Karan was riding pillion.

Family members of the deceased revealed that he was seen roaming in the house around 6 am after which he left the house. The family members thought he had gone back to sleep. Karan's father who was on a morning walk noticed the motorcycle missing after which he alerted his family members who then found that the keys of the bike and Karan were both missing.

While the family members were trying to find out where they possibly could be, the police informed them about the accident.

"So far no evidence of stunt biking has emerged. A case under relevant sections has been registered. Further investigations are underway," said Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North-West.
