Chief Secy skips event, gets notice

Delhi Chief Secretary MM Kutty has invited trouble for skipping the birth anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked Kutty to “explain” why he was not present at the event which was attended by the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, besides others.

According to one of the aides of Kejriwal, the CM is “unhappy” with Kutty for skipping the event, which was organised by the Delhi government’s Art, Culture and Language Department.

He said many other bureaucrats also chose to not attend the programme, which left Kejriwal more irked.

“The casual attitude displayed by officers towards a national function has not gone down well with the chief minister. He is annoyed with this kind of behaviour,” he said.

There have been frequent tussles between the CM office and bureaucrats in running the city-state.
