CBSE says Ryan school flouted guidelines

The Central Board Secondary Education's (CBSE) report on the matter on Saturday revealed how the school flouted basic guidelines. Among the many security lapses that the report points out, one is of non-functional CCTV cameras in the school and no attendant being present at the toilets. It also mentions that non-teaching staff and children used the same toilet, which posed a threat to children's safety.

It also pointed out that the school building posed a safety threat, as the boundary wall did not have enough height as well as no barbed wires, as a result of which anyone could enter the school premises. Also, the school could not produce safety certificates as per Rule 8.5 of Affiliation Bye Laws. Besides, its fire safety certificate, too, has expired in May this year and the school had failed to renew it.

The report stated that of the five floors in the school building, three floors are used for teaching-learning processes while remaining two floors remain unused. "Students can access these unused classrooms as these classrooms are not locked. Students can easily go to the building terrace/roof as it remains open and no locks were found. The electricity panel room is unlocked which is dangerous for the safety of the students," the report stated.
