CBI bags 28 medals for distinguished & meritorious service

According to CBI officials, the awardees have been appreciated for the investigations they conducted into some of the major financial crimes that the country witnessed last year

Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were honoured with gallantry awards on Republic Day. They have bagged a total of 28 medals, which include six President's Police medals for distinguished service, and 22 Police medals for Meritorious service.

Among the officers who will receive the Presidents medal are AYV Krishna, IPS, Joint Director, HoZ, Hyderabad; Sushil Prasad Singh posted as SP in the anti corruption branch (ACB) in Nagpur; Devendra Singh, Additional SP at New Delhi, Kishan Singh Negi, DSP, New Delhi; Bansi Dhar Tiwari, Inspector IPCC, New Delhi and G Satyanarayana posted as ASI in ACB, Hyderabad.

According to CBI officials, the awardees have been appreciated for the investigations they conducted into some of the major financial crimes that the country witnessed last year. Among the scams and alleged frauds that dominated 2016 were the infamous AgustaWestland scam, probe into the alleged bank fraud involving liquor Baron Vijay Mallya, killings of rationalists like Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare and Kalburgi and the Sheena Bora murder. The probe agency was specially busy towards the end of the year after the November 8 demonetization announcement.

Among officials receiving the police medal for meritorious service are DIG Tarun Gauba (Chandigarh); Gyanendra Kumar Verma, IPS, Deputy Director,CBI HQ, New Delhi; DIG Dr. Atul Digambar Fulzele, ACB, Mumbai; PC Thenmozhi posted as SP in ACB, Chennai; K Pradeep Kumar, DSP, EO-III, New Delhi; DSP Pramod Kumar (New Delhi); Thakur Singh Bhandari, Inspector (ACB Ghaziabad); Surender Singh Yadav, Inspector, AC-II, New Delhi; Nilambur Narayanan Srikrishanan, Chennai; Inspector Sachida Nanda Rath, Bhubaneswar; Arjun Vasant Pawar, Inspector EOW, Mumbai; Shafi Mohammed, Sub Inspector in ACB, Jodhpur; ASI Digambir Singh Bisht and Head Constables Rajinder Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Shashi Pal, Adu Ram, Mahambir Singh, Virender Kumar Khatri, Kamlesh Kumar, V Balaji and Bali Ram.
