Cab driver held by Delhi Police for stabbing 31-year-old man to death

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Sunny Kumar (25).

The Delhi Police have arrested a cab driver for stabbing a 31-year-old man to death and later dumping his body in the bushes near Vrindavan farms on the Najafgarh Chhawla Road. The police has earlier arrested two persons in connection with the case, however the third accused was absconding.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Sunny Kumar (25).

On December 8, an unknown dead body with multiple stab wounds all over the body was recovered in bushes. The Crime team inspected the spot the seized evidences as well. A case of murder and destruction of evidence was then registered at Chhawla police station. The deceased was identified as Amit alias Johnny, a resident of South-West Delhi's Sagarpur area.

It came to fore that Amit was married and had three children; two sons and a daughter. He was working with a private firm in Mayapuri area.

The police had earlier arrested two accused identified as Sachin Chauhan and his cousin Bobby Chauhan. It was Sunny who was driving the cab, a Hyundai Accent car bearing number DL-1ZA-0189.

While the two others were arrested, Sunny continued remaining absconding. "On December 12 the police received a tip-off and residence of Sunny in Siwara village in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukabad district. He is the neighbour of Sachin's wife," said a senior police officer.

With the arrest of the three, the police claimed to have solved the murder case.

"Efforts are being made to trace the mobile phone of the victim and other shreds of evidence related to this case which were thrown by accused at an unknown place while driving the cab around," added the officer.
