A homebuyer of Amrapali Dream Valley in Noida Extension died on November 22 in the wait for his dream flat. The deceased was identified as Yogesh Singh, who was suffering from cancer but fought for his flat even during his treatment.

Singh and his family were living in a rented accommodation in Sector-11 and he was working for a private company in Sector-62 on a monthly salary of around Rs 55,000. He is survived by an eight-year-old son and wife.

He had booked a flat in Amrapali Project in 2010 and was waiting for his dream flat for the past seven years. According to the family members, if the builder had returned Singh's hard earned money, then they would have invested that for the best treatment as he died due because he could not get full treatment due to the shortage of money.

When all the homebuyers of various projects of Amrapali in GB Nagar protested outside the Amrapali office in Sector-62, Singh also participated in that for 45 days and demanded to get his money back, but neither the builder nor the government listened to them.

"The builder had promised to deliver the flat within three years. For the flat, my husband took a loan of Rs 10 lakh to pay to the builder and the down payment was made from our savings. But till now, the builders have not kept their promise," said Kavita, Singh's wife.

Kavita also said that they requested the officials of Amrapali to return their money but they didn't and in August, she also protested with her husband and other homebuyers but nothing happened.

Grieving Kavita also questioned the state and Central government that if there is no value of a common man, then why do they come to us during election time for votes? "The government is sleeping and people dying like this," she added.

"I have nothing left now because my husband is no more, but now I will fight for his dream till my last breath," she said.
