Brothers attacked, robbed off Rs 1.25 lakh in Bindapur

According to the police, the incident took place when Akram and Shahid were returning from their poultry farm in Matiyala area around 11.30 pm.

Three unidentified men shot at at a man and stabbed his brother, injuring him critically, before robbing them off Rs 1.25 lakh in south-west Delhi's Bindapur area, late on Sunday night. Police said the accused first threw chilly powder at the victims and then attacked them with knife and pistol.

The victims have been identified as poultry farm owner Mohammad Akram and his brother Shahid, residents of Dwarka, Sector 7. According to the police, the incident took place when Akram and Shahid were returning from their poultry farm in Matiyala area around 11.30 pm.

"According to the victims, they were carrying a bag with Rs 1.25 in cash, their day's earnings. Suddenly, three men approached them on a motorcycle and asked them to stop. As the duo stopped, one of them took put a pouch and threw red chilly powder on them. They then started assaulting them and tried to snatch the bag. As Shahid tried to resist, an accused took out a knife and stabbed him multiple times. When Akram tried to intervene, he was shot at," a senior police officer said.

The trio then fled from the spot with the bag. Locals heard the sound of bullets and the victims' screams. A PCR call was made and the injured were rushed to hospital.

"While Akram suffered a bullet injury in his left foot, and Shahid, who was stabbed multiple times in abdomen and hand, has been declared to be out of danger. CCTV footage is being checked to identify the accused. Role of an insider is suspected. A case of attempt to murder and robbery under relevant sections has been registered," the officer said.
