BPO employee raped by Ola cabbie's friend in Greater Noida

A 25-year-old BPO employee was allegedly raped by an Ola cab driver's friend in Jarcha of Greater Noida on Thursday night. While both the driver and his friend have been arrested, police said the woman had not booked the cab through the app as she knew the driver personally.

"According to her complainant, the woman called driver Ashok to Sector 126 to travel to Surajpur (Greater Noida) around 4:30 pm. When she boarded, Ashok's friend Praveen was already in the car," said Nishank Sharma, Circle Officer (Dadri area).

Ashok drove to Daya Nagar forest in Jarcha around 8.30pm and dropped off the woman and Praveen, saying he has some important work. Praveen dragged her into the bushes and raped her.

On Friday, OLA issued a statement clarifying the ride was not booked through their platform.
