A fight over a mobile phone turned violent leaving a 12-year-old seriously injured. The boy was talking on the phone while his friend allegedly smashed a blunt object on his head. The incident occurred when he refused to give the phone to his friend. The entire episode occurred near the victim's residence in the Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad on Friday morning.

According to police, the incident took place around 10 am on Friday, when Kadir, 12, was talking over the phone outside his house while his friend Satish was standing next to him. Later Satish asked for the phone and after a brief argument attacked him with a blunt object.

Family members of the victim alleged that police personnel delayed in recording Kadir's statement even though he was bleeding in front of them. "He kept a T-shirt to stop his bleeding while officers moved around. Kadir was bleeding in front of them for more than 20 minutes," alleged a family member.

However, police officers said that Kadir was rushed to a nearby hospital by them soon after his complaint was lodged and his condition was stable.

Also, a video shot by an unidentified person has gone viral on social media. The video shows police personnel doing their daily work instead of attending to the child.

Responding to the video, SP City, Ghaziabad Akash Tomar said, "We are looking through it. If someone is found to be at fault we shall take strict action against these officers," he said.

Meanwhile confusion reigned as to who was the attacker is.

"Earlier Kadir had accused Satish of attacking him with a knife. But now he himself is unsure of who attacked him from behind as there were many kids around. We have registered the case against an unknown persons under IPC section 323 (violence)." said Tomar.

The police are yet to make any arrests.
