The Delhi Police on Friday questioned the brother and father of the 40-year old woman accused of trying to extort money from a BJP MP KC Patel.

A team of Delhi Police officials, along with the woman on Thursday, reached Muzzafarnagar, where they interrogated the duo. Police said there are at least four cases in which she backed out from her allegations of rape against influential men. These include a politician from Uttarakhand and a Congress leader from Haryana.

"During our investigations the accused kept changing her statements regarding these earlier cases," said a police officer.

Police source said the brother and father of the woman were questioned about her bank transactions, her lifestyle and her contacts. "We are trying to ascertain if her educational qualifications are true. The family can give us details into a lot of things that can be helpful in the investigation," said a police officer.

The woman has been accused of extorting Rs 7 crore from the BJP MP and had claimed to be a Supreme Court lawyer. Police officials say that she runs a network, which was involved in honey-trapping influential men.

Officials say the modus operandi of this gang was simple. They would initially get friendly with people and then zero down on a possible target to later blackmail him and extort money. Around five to six persons are said to be a part of the gang.

During investigations the woman told officials that she had moved to Delhi around five years back to prepare for the Rajasthan Public Services exam but later also appeared for the preliminary test of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). She claims she has BA, MA (English), MA (Political Science), LLB and LLM. But when she was asked to write some things in English she failed to do so.
