Riding the Modi-wave, Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari on Wednesday took his Vijay Vikas Yatra campaign to the lanes of southwest Delhi. Riding on a saffron-coloured mini bus, Tiwari and MP Ramesh Bhiduri waved to people huddled in their balconies and on the streets. People from Dwarka to Rajokri had come to catch a glimpse of the Bhojpuri singer and actor-turned-politician.

The roadshow started from the main road in Sadh Nagar and concluded in the Rajokri village. Reaching out to the Poorvanchali voters in particular, Tiwari said the recognition that the party has given him by appointing him as the President was a way of respecting all those hailing from the area.

He asked voters to beware of Congress, alleging that it was trying to divide the Poorvanchali voters in the city.

"The respect given to me by the party is the recognition given to all Poorvanchalis for their contribution in development of Delhi. People should, however, be careful of the Congress this time, as the party has pressurised Nitish Kumar to field candidates here to divide the Poorvanchali vote," he said from the top of the vehicle in Rajokri.

Targeting the Congress and AAP, he accused the two parties of being "partners in corruption", who had drained Delhi of its resources. "The Congress, during its rule, drained Delhi of Rs 12 lakh crore. The AAP, too, is working on the same lines with half of its leaders booked for crimes," Tiwari said.

The politician covered 16 wards, including Dwarka, Bijwasan, Rajokri, Lado Sarai, Vasant Kunj, Aya Nagar, and Mahipalpur, among others. As the vehicle moved amidst the crowd, his cavalcade of party workers wearing Modi masks and adorning saffron scarves and party flags on motorcycles also moved with it.

Riding on the party's win in five states, he said, "We have won in UP with the largest majority.

If people trust us again this time, we will create a Delhi of their dreams."

The municipal polls in the Capital are scheduled for April 23.
