Bizman shot to death near Hindon river, driver injured

A 35-year-old businessman was shot dead while his driver sustained bullet injuries on Wednesday after seven unidentified bike-borne miscreants opened fire at them near the Hindon river in Indirapuram of Vasundhara, Ghaziabad.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Mintu, a resident of Ghazipur in Delhi. The incident took place around 2 pm, while he was returning from a local court in Ghaziabad with his driver, Nagendra, 28.

Speaking to DNA, Nagendra said two bikes had been moving besides the car ever since they left the court. One more bike joined them near the Vasundhara cut. In all, there were seven people on three bikes, and all of a sudden, they opened fire, he said.

"I was injured. Somehow, I drove to the hospital. No passerby came to our help and the assailants managed to flee," Nagendra said.

According to the police, the PCR call was made by the district hospital. "The hospital authorities said two men with bullet injuries had been admitted. When we reached the hospital, Mintu had succumbed while Nagendra was in a critical condition, " Akash Tomar, SP City, Ghaziabad, said.

As many as eight bullets had hit Mintu while Nagendra had suffered two bullet wounds. The families of the victims were informed and a case was registered against the seven unknown accused.

"An FIR has been registered. We are trying to ascertain whether Mintu had any enmity or rivalry with anyone," Singh added.
