A gas agency employee was shot dead and robbed off Rs three lakhs in West Delhi's Paschim Vihar area on Monday night. No arrests have been made so far in the case. Police are probing if the attackers had come only to loot the money or there was some other motive also.

According to the police, the incident took place on a busy road in Paschim Vihar's block six area. The victim, Jagan had collected cash from the gas agency and was heading to his employer's home to hand over the money to him when the incident occurred.

While Jagan sat pillion on the motorcycle, his uncle drove the bike. The employer's residence is barely 300 metres away from the gas godown.

When they were on their way, three men on another motorcycle intercepted them and tried to snatch the bag from Jagan.

"The victim resisted and was fired at by the accused. The bullet passed through his stomach and he was rushed to a nearby hospital but due to loss of blood, he passed away," said a police officer.

Jagan and his uncle have been working with the gas agency for the last 25 years and would every day take the cash to their employer's house. Police are also probing if any of the employees tipped off the attackers about their movements. Further investigations are underway.
