Bharat Bandh: Train services hit, road traffic derailed in Delhi

A mob of about 2,000 people disrupted train services at Hapur station. The Railways said across its zones, protesters started gathering at rail yards since early morning.

Massive Dalit protests over the alleged dilution of the SC/ST Act disrupted rail and road traffic in Delhi and NCR on Monday.

Several trains were affected as protesters squatted on tracks. Many trains such as Saptakranti Express, Utkal Express and Bhubaneswar and Ranchi Rajdhani as well as Kanpur Shatabdi were stopped ahead of Ghaziabad in Meerut and Modinagar.

Delhi faced massive traffic jams as hundreds of protestors marched against the Supreme Court's march 20 order on the Act. Chaos brought traffic to a standstill in and around Connaught place.

Protesters blocked roads outside Mandi House Metro station. Office goers travelling towards ITO were stranded.

Protesters also blocked one of the carriageways of Barakhamba Road, affecting traffic on the stretch.

Delhi Police in a series of tweets said traffic was disrupted on Janpath, Barakhanba Road, Mandi House and others areas in Lutyens' Delhi.
