An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself from his service pistol at the barracks in Outer Delhi's Rohini area. No suicide note has been recovered from the location.

According to the police, the incident came to fore on Thursday morning when one of the officers reached the barrack of ASI Ramesh Kumar and found him lying in a pool of blood. Prima facie it appears that the incident might have occurred in the early hours of Wednesday. Kumar had reported for duty which was over by the evening and he was in the barracks where he was found dead. Police informed that it appeared to be a case of suicide, however, the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Kumar's pistol, that was issued to him, was also lying next to him.

"He sustained a bullet wound on his chest. He was posted at the South Rohini Police Station. He is survived by his wife and children, who reside in Narela. Kumar hailed from Bihar. Further investigations are underway," said Rajneesh Gupta, DCP, Rohini.
