Army deserter nabbed for 2-year-old South-East Delhi bank robbery

An Army deserter has been arrested on Wednesday for carrying out a robbery in South-East Delhi's Okhla area two years back. The police had earlier nabbed two of his gang members but the kingpin was absconding.

According to the police, the incident occurred on July 25, 2015 when a businessman, who supplied labourers, had gone to the Bank of India branch in Okhla to withdraw around Rs 23 lakh in order to pay salaries to his employees. When he came out of the bank, three armed assailants opened fired at him and robbed the bag containing cash.

On May, 25, the police received information regarding two of the gang members involved in the robbery. The team laid a trap and Anil Dubey alias Bhura and Pinku Dubey alias Pankaj were arrested.

The arrested accused revealed that the mastermind behind this dacoity was Sudhir Parihar alias Fauji, an army deserter, who was wanted in number of cases in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. Fauji had formed a gang along with Pankaj, Bhura, Ankesh Singh alias Setu, Iqrar Khan alias Sonu Khan and Anuj alias Vipin. They would deploy Anuj to check about persons who withdrew cash in huge amounts.

Anil Dubey and Fauji knew each other as they belonged to the same village. They operated their gang from Bhind-Murana, Madhya Pradesh. Pinku Dubey resided in the neighbouring village.
