Applicants queue at DDA office

Even as the DDA was launching its housing scheme on the rainy Friday afternoon, home buyers had started queuing up before the DDA headquarters at Vikas Sadan.

Applicants will be allowed to submit a maximum of seven choices for preference of localities in the form.

Sudha Sikka, a 56-year-old from northwest Delhi's Rohini, said, she has come all the way to know the procedure and dates.

"This will be my second attempt at buying a DDA house after a decade." said Sikka.

The DDA, the government's housing agency has tied up with 10 banks for sale of application forms and the fee-related transactions. The banks include Yes Bank, IDBI, Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra, HDFC, ICICI, Canara Bank, Central Bank and SBI.

With 12,000 houses on offer, this was DDA's 46th housing scheme being launched.

"Over the last 45 schemes the DDA has provided over 4 lakh houses to people. Till 2022, we plan to come up with 20,000 flats every year offering houses to buyers at affordable costs. Housing is one of the major requirements of people in Delhi, which has shrinking land space," said, DDA Vice Chairman Uday Pratap Singh.
