A vigilant Pradeep Kumar, employed as an ATM security guard in east Delhi's Shahdara, helped police nab a criminal who was allegedly involved in ATM fraud cases.

Kumar who is a participant of the Delhi Police's Prahari scheme (to involve security guards and locals in keeping a vigil) told the investigating team that he had seen the accused Sandeep, 28, at the ATM in Shahdara, who the police later arrested for being involved in three cheating cases.

A case of cheating was registered at the Farsh Bazar police station of Shahdara district. The investigating officers had shared the photographs of suspects with all the Prahari members after an FIR in the case was lodged. Kumar recognised the accused from these pictures and informed the police that he had seen the accused locking himself up inside an ATM in Shahdara.

"On Kumar's information, we recahed the spot and caught the accused, who was later identified as Sandeep. He had three cases of cheating against him while 12 ATM cards were recovered from him," said a senior officer.
