After Manushi Chhillar, the 20-year-old medical student from Haryana, who won Miss World last year, another medico has been shortlisted among the top finalists for Mrs India contest. Dr Reena Mittal, a doctor from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is now preparing for the Grand Finale for the 'Mrs India - Queen of substance -2018' to be held between April 11 and 13.

The 34-year-old is a cancer pathologist and was a medical entrance topper from Madhya Pradesh. Currently placed among the top 35 of the 3,000 applicants from India and abroad (NRIs), Mittal feels that her five months of hard work is finally paying off. She is the only doctor from the Delhi-NCR to be participating in the reputed beauty contest.

"This is a very prestigious contest where the winner is decided on the basis of talent, intelligence, passion, and vision for better India. I had been preparing for this contest for the last few months and it feels good to be among the top finalists," said Mittal.

"I wish to focus on women empowerment and help blood cancer patients," she said.

Inspired by Reita Faria, the first Asian to win the Miss World title in the year 1966 and the first winner to qualify as a doctor, Mittal says that she wishes to continue with both her titles as education is her first love and she wants to focus on helping patients.

Mrs India is India's largest beauty pageant for married women and the winners go to platforms to represent the country.

Reena Mittal lives with her doctor husband, who is a specialised kidney surgeon and encouraged her to apply for the pageant.

The event will take place at the ITC hotel in Delhi next week.
