Probing into the alleged AIADMK symbol bribery case, investigators have recovered a fake Rajya Sabha (RS) identity card from the possession of Sukesh Chandrasekar, who was the suspected middleman in the case. The case involves TTV Dinakaran, the nephew of tainted AIADMK leader Sasikala Natarajan, who has been accused of attempting to get a party symbol by bribing the election body.

"The identity card is an exact replica of the original, with all the security features," a senior police officer said, adding that it was a case of forgery. Chandrasekar was arrested earlier this year in relation to the election fraud. While the bribery link has been established by the Crime Branch, the new revelation makes the case even stronger. The incident has allowed the investigative agency to add Section 467 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), related to forgery, which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years.

The police have started investigating as to who gave Chandrasekar the fake RS identity card. Delhi Police found the card during their ongoing probe into EC bribery case. The police have managed to establish the relationship between Chandrasekhar and Dinakaran and the hawala transactions.
