In a bid to nullify negativity surrounding the party and their leader Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to re-launch their door to door campaign within next few days in Delhi aiming to reach at least 35 lakh household.

The party has already geared up a workforce of around 30,000 volunteers across the national capital that will go door to door spreading AAP’s message, nullify negativity related to AAP and dispelling rumours and introducing party’s Lok Sabha candidates.

“A four page pamphlet has been prepared that will be given to people when our volunteer team will go door to door. Its first page will consist of candidate’s introduction, second will have candidate’s affidavit to people, third page will count achievements of AAP’s 49 day Delhi government,” Durgesh Pathak, who is co-convenor of AAP’s Delhi State committee, told dna.

The fourth page will have FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) wherein AAP will answer questions that have been repeatedly posed to party like why it took Congress’s support to form government or why Kejriwal resigned over Jan Lokpal bill.

“On fourth page, we will provide answers to questions of people like why AAP took Congress support to form government or why Arvind Kejriwal resigned … there we will give answer to questions like this,” Pathak said.

The need for answering such questions was felt over repeated controversies that arose, including in media, about several steps taken by AAP and AAP led Delhi government in the last few months. It is also probably a step to win back a section of the people who are angry, confused or disillusioned with AAP.

“There are several question related to party among people like why did AAP government resigned or why did we take support from Congress to form government. Why we took a particular decision or others?  Not that everyone has such questions but we want to be clear on answers if someone has such questions,” Pathak added.

AAP’s door to door campaign spelled success for the party in the Delhi elections wherein they visited around 28-30 lakh households. The practice was quickly aped by both BJP and Congress who are trying to do the same ahead of the general elections starting in May.

Like last time, AAP during its door to door campaign will seek donations as well and will also encourage them to become members.

The party has already trained around 3,000 volunteers at booth level who have in-turn trained others. Thus a volunteer workforce of 30,000 such peple have been prepared.

“These 30,000 people include students, young professionals, businessman who are taking out time or taking leaves for 10-15 days from work. We have also strengthened our booth management network at the polling stations,” Pathak added.

But not just in Delhi, door to door campaign and such pamphlets will be used across India by other AAP candidates too.

“Similar kind of pamphlets will be used across the nation too by AAP’s Lok Sabha candidates,” Pathak said.
