Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today came down heavily on the Centre and Delhi government over the power outages in the national capital and demanded immediate relief to the people during the scorching summer.

Questioning the intentions behind the long power cuts across the city, the party also said the the Union power ministry and the city administration were taking advantage of the absence of an elected government in Delhi.  "The failure of the Central government and Delhi administration in checking endless power cuts across the national capital raises doubts on their intention and clearly points at multiple failures of an insensitive regime," a party spokesperson said.

The spokesperson also criticised the Delhi administration, which is directly controlled by the BJP-led Narendra Modi government at the Centre, for resorting to stop-gap measures like rationing of electricity, instead of addressing the real issue of ensuring adequate electricity supply across the city. "The decision like stopping electricity supply to shopping malls after 10 PM is typical example of poor planning which may lead to a serious crisis in the long run," he said.

The spokesperson also took on newly elected MPs of Delhi over their silence on the issue, and asked the administration to take help of all political parties in resolving the crisis.

Demanding attention on priority to the issue, the party appealed the Centre and city administration not to test the patience of people during the scorching summer.
