With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) campaign for municipal corporation elections failing to pick up, it seems party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has decided to adopt the strategy of hitting below the belt. The party has released a booklet based on the "research" done by its volunteers, which attacks the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress over various civic issues.

The party had deployed youth volunteers, currently employed in various Delhi government departments, to conduct a yearwise research on various topics pertaining to civic agencies.

After a few days of this "research", mostly done on the Internet, the volunteers compiled a booklet and submitted it to the party leadership. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and state-in-charge Dilip Pandey released this 19-page booklet on Saturday. Written entirely in Hindi, the booklet has called MCD, the 'Most Corrupt Department'.

"MCD now stands for the 'Most Corrupt Department'. People's money, which is given by the Delhi government or collected through taxation, is thrown down the drain. This document details all those issues. It talks about why sanitation workers don't get salaries and why pensioners don't get pension. We will take these details to the people," Sisodia said, while releasing the booklet.

The booklet opens with pictures of garbage accumulated in parts of Delhi. On the second page, its has the words, '20 saal, MCD behaal (20 years, MCD in doldrums)'.

Meanwhile, the leaders have also directed the party's Information and Technology wing to start attacking both BJP and Congress on social networking sites. They have also been asked to rake up decade-old issues in relation to the civic bodies. A few leaders party leaders, however, voiced the opinion that this 'campaign of negativity' might adversely affect the party rather than garnering support for it. "We think our top leaders should change the negative attitude and talk about development," an AAP candidate said.
