In yet another strategic move by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Delhi municipal elections, the party leadership has deployed "observers" to keep a check on each and every move of the Opposition in all important wards across the city.

"AAP has placed observers in all the crucial wards across Delhi to access the ground situation of our volunteers as well as that of the Opposition. It's very important to keep an eye on the Opposition's moves," a senior party leader said.

"Around 2-3 observers will be deployed in party offices of these wards. These observers will prepare ground reports for the party leadership," he added.

The move came after party MLA from Bawana, Ved Prakash, and Vice-President of the AAP's women's wing, Seema Kaushik, recently quit the party to join BJP and Congress. Soon afterwards, another party MLA from Janakpuri, Rajesh Rishi, took to Twitter to raise his voice against the party leadership.

"Dissent is brewing among party volunteers on the issue of ticket distribution. So, these observers will also keep a check on such disgruntled volunteers," sources said.

Earlier, AAP had formed an internal commitee to keep a check on "disgruntled members" in a bid to avoid dissent within the party. Polls for 272 seats in the three corporations — south, east, and north — will be held on April 23, and the results will be announced on April 26.
