Addressing a public meeting in Dwarka in southwest Delhi, Union Minister Smriti Irani said on Thursday evening that both the Congress and the AAP are getting "wiped out" from the face of Delhi.

"From MPs, cabinet ministers, councillors to ground party workers, all of us can stand together on this stage. But this is not the same in the Congress who don't respect their own workers. This is the reason why both Congress and AAP are almost wiped out from the city and will be totally out after this election," said Irani, as she urged people to vote for the ruling party.

The remark comes a day after Arvinder Singh Lovely, a senior Congress leader, joined the BJP and comes on the eve of civic polls to be held in the city on April 23.

Irani was filling in for BJP chief Amit Shah who was initially supposed to address the gathering here. Shah had begun the party's? campaign from Central Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, earlier this month.

On the second-last day of the campaign, senior party leaders, area MP Pravesh Verma, candidates, and sitting councillors, were present at the public meeting while hundreds of people were gathered to catch a glimpse of party's star campaigner Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan. Slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai were raised and patriotic songs were played loudly in the background.

Irani also answered questions regarding the civic issues of the area, saying that water supply will be boosted, if the BJP is voted to power.

"I have come to know that low water supply is a major problem here. I asked the MP what is he doing about it, to which he reassured that he has tied up with the water utility to provide a solution," said Irani.

She also spoke of PM Narendra Modi's achievements such as the LPG subsidy for the poor.

"The PM has risen from poverty and hence understands the pain of the poor. Only he can bring reforms for the country," she said.

Speaking after Irani, Verma also targeted the AAP and Congress. He claimed that the two parties are full of "corrupt" and "criminal" leaders.

"Almost all the Arvind Kejriwal cabinet ministers and MLAs have been booked or caught in criminal cases. How will they rule the city? BJP is the only clean party that can offer solutions to people," he said.
