Even as the Aam Admi Party (AAP) hailed the Supreme Court's ruling on the confrontation between its government and the Delhi L-G as a "big victory" for the democracy, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the opposition questioned the reason behind the celebrations.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said the court order is a "final warning" to the Kejriwal government to work according to the established rules. "Today's decision by the Supreme Court establishes that Constitution is the boss in Delhi and elsewhere in the country. It is also a final warning to the Kejriwal government to shun anarchism and follow the Constitution," he said.

BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said the apex court verdict has directed the AAP government to follow the law and it is expected that they will do so. "We welcome the SC verdict. The Delhi government should have been following the law even without the order of the court. We hope, they will do so after the judgement," he said.

Meanwhile, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj slammed the BJP for rejecting the verdict as its "victory". "BJP is right in saying nothing new has been given to elected Govt of Delhi. Basically, powers were snatched away by Modi Govt in May 2015, SC has reinstated the powers back to Arvind Kejriwal Govt. Those powers were with Sheila Dixit for 15 years, but she always misled media," he said.
