The Aam Admi Party (AAP) called Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal an "agent" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday and accused him of not acting on the complaints of attacks on its ministers.

Environment Minister Imran Hussain and Delhi Dialogue Commission Vice-chairman Ashish Khetan had complained to the L-G alleging attacks from government officers.

AAP Spokesperson Ashutosh also questioned the authenticity of the medico-legal case (MLC) report of Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, who claimed of being roughed up by AAP MLAs during a meeting at the chief minister's residence earlier this week.

"Attempts are being made to destabilise the Arvind Kejriwal-led government by using the alleged attack as a pretext. The party also named a few officials of the state government, who were allegedly involved in an attack on Hussain and Khetan. The Delhi Police arrested our MLAs only on the complaint of the chief secretary, who did not have any evidence," Ashutosh said.

The party has a video footage of the attacks on Hussain and Khetan. Despite the clear evidence, no action has been taken based on their complaints, the AAP leader said.

"Prakash's MLC report states that he was attacked after 12 am, while the CCTV footage shows him walking out of the Chief Minister's residence at 11.30 pm. Why do the L-G, the Delhi Police and the Centre have double standards? The law is equal to every citizen. The L-G is acting as an agent of the BJP and his loyalty is not towards the Constitution," Ashutosh told the media.

Senior AAP leader and party MP Sanjay Singh also asked why no action was taken against government officers for using casteist remarks against the MLAs.

The Delhi Police had arrested AAP MLAs Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan for allegedly assaulting Prakash and were sent to one-day judicial custody on Wednesday.
