The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday approached the Election Commission seeking removal of anamolies in the voters list of Delhi and said free and fair polls will not be possible if such discrepancies exist.

Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, who met the Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath and also Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Chandra Bhushan Kumar, said he has handed over three CDs to the poll body, which contains details about the anamolies. He also demanded action against Booth Level Officers for the discrepancies in the voters list "We did our check and found that some 3,96,914 voters have more than one card against their names totalling upto 11,50,509 voter cards. We have compared the name, father's/ husband's name and age. These 3 fields match in all cases.

Then we compared some photos randomly. "We discovered that the photos are also matching in a number of cases. We are attaching such cases as examples.

Photos have to be compared manually and we did not have the manpower to compare photos in all these cases. Therefore, we would treat these as suspected cases," Kejriwal said in a letter to Delhi CEO.

In a news conference addressed by him, Kejriwal said his party also compared the voters list of Delhi with neighbouring Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and found several discrepancies in that list as well.

"We found 14,71,025 voters in Delhi's list, whose name, father's/ husband's name and age match with the names in Haryana's list. In case of Uttar Pradesh, we found 12,53,779 voters in Delhi's list. We have also given the CD to the election commission and said free and fair elections would not be possible in such a case.

"We all know that just before the election, people from the neighbouring states are brought to cast their votes," he alleged.
