5-yr-old sodomised by teen

A five-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by a neighbour in Surajpur area of Greater Noida on Friday evening. Police said the accused was arrested after a complaint was filed by the parents of the victim.

According to police, the incident took place around 5pm, when the victim had gone to play with the neighbourhood kids. The accused has been identified as Shoaib (19), a labourer, who allegedly took him to a secluded place and sodomised him for half an hour.

"The victim was bleeding. He went home and narrated the incident to his father, also a daily wager. The child was brought to the police station, after which he was taken to a hospital for medical examination. He was administered first-aid and an FIR was lodged." said Girish Kumar Kotiya, Station House Officer, Surajpur police station.

Police said Shoaib lives 100 metres away from the victim's house in Begampur village. "Later in the evening, around 9pm, a police team went to nab the accused. He tried to escape, but was caught eventually, after a hot pursuit," Kotiya said.

Police have registered a case under sections 377 and 323 of the IPC, besides the POCSO Act.

During interrogation, Shoaib confessed to the crime and admitted that he lured the victim with toffees and took him to a desolate area.

He was produced in court on Saturday and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
