A five-year-old boy, who was playing in the balcony of his house on the fifth floor of a high-rise in the Rajnagar Extension area here, died after falling down while trying to peep through the grills of the balcony on Wednesday.
Family members alleged that they had demanded the builder to increase theheight of the balcony but they never took the complaint seriously. Prima facie, it appears to be an accident and no official complaint has been made, the police said.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Rudhransh (5), who was playing in the balcony of his house in KW Shrishti society, while all his family members were present inside the house.
" The boy was playing inside the house but he found the balcony gate open, so he went out and while peeping down he fell off the balcony to the second floor of the building," said Vinod Kumar Pandey, Station House Officer (Sihani Gate).
The residents of the second floor heard a loud thud and thought that something has fallen from some flat and rushed to the spot. When they saw the boy lying in a pool of blood, they alerted others.
"The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while treatment," said Pandey.
The family has alleged that the balcony's height is only two feet and despite several requests, the builder didn't listen to the resident's requests.
" We had given written complaints to the builder to increase the height of the balcony as this height could lead to many mishaps. Finally, a mishap has taken place. The builder is at fault. The police should take action against the builder," said a family member of the deceased.
