A 35-year-old man was shot at several times by two unidentified assailants inside a gym in Bajitpur area of Rohini district on Friday morning. The victim received three bullet injuries and is currently fighting for his life at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Police suspect personal enmity behind the attack.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as Monu, who had gone to the gym in the morning, when two men with their faces covered entered the Olympic gym and fired several shots at him.
"A PCR call was made at around 7 am by the gym owner about two men entering the gym with their faces covered who fired at Monu. Around 15 people were present inside the gym when the incident took place. After firing at the victim, the accused fled the spot," said a senior police officer.
According to the family members of the victim, he left the house normally at 6 am to go to the gym.
"I was at work when I received a call about the incident, I rushed to the nearby hospital where he was bleeding profusely. He received three bullet injuries. Later, he was shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre from the local hospital. My son does not have any rivalry with anyone, I do not know why would anyone want to hurt him," said Rajbala, the victim's mother.
Police said that the victim has received 3 bullet injuries, one each on hand, stomach and feet.
Based on the complaint filed by the family members, a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered. Police said that they are scanning the CCTV footages of the area to identify the criminals. "We are trying to look into all angles. CCTV footage is also being scanned to ascertain the sequence of events at the gym where the victim was shot," the police officer said.
