35-year-old man murders aunt for money, arrested

Police arrested a 35-year-old man who murdered his aunt using an ice prick and fled with Rs 5,000 cash and valuables. The incident took place in west Delhi's Moti Nagar area. Police said the man was arrested within 24 hours of the murder.

The accused has been identified as Lalit Chandna, a resident of Jahangir Puri area. According to the police, on Thursday evening, they received a call about a murder at New Moti Nagar. The deceased was identified as Priskilla David.

The police inquired relatives and neighbours and scanned the CCTV footage in the area. It was revealed that one Lalit, nephew of deceased, had asked her daughter for some money about a month ago, but she had refused.

Lalit was tracked and arrested after a raid. During interrogation, he disclosed that he sells hosiery items and is an alcoholic. He said that he was in need for money and sought financial help from his cousin Marlin David, daughter of the deceased but she had refused. He planned to get some money from the house of his aunt by robbing her. On Thursday, he reached her residence when Priskilla was alone and stabbed her," said Vijay Kumar, DCP west.
