A 33-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at his hostel room in East Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area on Thursday. The deceased worked as a manager at a private hospital and was under stress owing to his family problems.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Abhinav Kumar. Kumar worked at Noida's Kailash hospital and worked in the nursing department and as a manager as well. He lived in a hostel accommodation provided by the hospital in New Ashok Nagar.

The incident took place around 2 am on Thursday. Police officials stated that Kumar, who hails from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, was found bleeding from his head with a gunshot wound. Other staff members, who also resided in the same hostel, heard the sound of a gunshot from room number 303 and rushed to find Kumar bleeding heavily.

They rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Police officials are investigating as to how Kumar procured the gun and what made him take the extreme step.
