A 30-year-old woman was found dead at her home in southeast Delhi's Lajpat Nagar on Monday. Police said the victim, identified as Pooja Paswan, had stab injuries and her throat had been slit with a sharp knife.

Pooja, who got married two years ago, had been living alone for quite some time, police said. The incident came to light when her sister came to her home.

"Her sister broke into the house with the help of neighbours. She found Pooja lying in a pool of blood. Police were informed and forensic and crime teams soon arrived at the spot. Pooja's body and arms had stab injuries. Her neck also had deep cuts," a senior police officer said.

Primary investigation revealed that Pooja's husband Sumeet, who lives in Patna, has a mobile business there.

Police also suspect that the victim was pregnant. "At this stage, it is difficult to ascertain whether she was pregnant. Post-mortem report will confirm that. Earlier, she used to sell bed sheets after buying them in bulk but she had not been working anywhere for the last few months," the officer added.

A case of murder under IPC Section 302 has been registered at the Amar Colony police station.
