Three college students were killed and four others injured after the car they were travelling in fell off a flyover in west Delhi's outer Ring Road area on Monday. The car fell from a height of 30ft and the impact was so powerful that it turned turtle.

All seven, identified as Sanchit, Ritu, Pranav, Garima, Rishab, Raja and Rajat, were on their way to write an exam in Narela's IP College.

Rajat was driving, and the car reached the outer Ring Road area flyover, he lost control and the vehicle rammed into the green mesh, through it apart and fell off the flyover.

Eyewitnesses said that at first they thought that the car has hit somebody, but moments later, they saw it falling off the flyover. Eyewitness Manish said that since all doors of the car were locked, they had to break the windows to pull the students out. "There were cigarette packets and books in the car. We called the police, who later took the students away. Except for one, all of them were unconscious," Manish added.

"Sanchit and Ritu were declared dead on arrival while Rajat succumbed to injuries in noon," DCP (west) Vijay Kumar said.

The forensic team revealed that the car's rear tyre had burst. Cops are trying to ascertain if that was the reason behind the accident. An accident case has been registered and the police is investigating the matter.
