Three men allegedly raped a 21-year-old woman in a moving car in south Delhi’s Amar Colony on Monday night, the police have said. All three are residents of the Moti Bagh area and were nabbed from their homes on Tuesday morning, within 12 hours of the incident.

The accused have been identified as Arif, Mubarak, and Vijay, all in their early 20s, said Romil Baaniya, the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police. They were nabbed on the basis of a complaint from the victim.

The woman told the police that she was a native of Jharkhand and had been living in the Tughlaqabad area for the past few months. She was looking for a job and had befriended Arif last month.

Arif reportedly promised to help her get a job and called her to south Delhi on Monday, claiming he had arranged an interview for her. According to the complaint, when the woman sat in his car, she realised that he was drunk. He then forced himself on her.

There were two other men who then took turns to rape her in the moving car before dumping her at an isolated spot, she alleged. She then made a call to the police control room from Garhi in south Delhi on Monday night.

Since one of the accused was known to the woman, the police did not have much trouble in identifying and nabbing all the suspects, who have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody.
