3 held for manufacturing, supplying illegal firearms

The Eastern Range of Delhi Police has arrested three persons for manufacturing and supplying illegal firearms. The Delhi Police had launched a special drive to act against people supplying illegal firearms in the national Capital. The arrestees included Kasmuddin, who had become notorious for his 'Kasmu's Katta'.

"The accused have been identified as Kasmuddin alias Kasmu, 55, Ajay Kumar, 41, and Hashim alias Sonu, 19. As many as 16 sophisticated country-made pistols of different bores, parts of country-made pistols, and machines and tools for running illegal arms factory were recovered from their possession," Joint Commissioner of Police, Eastern Range, Ravindra Yadav said.

A dedicated team had been formed to trace Kasmu. The team received an input that two persons would be arriving on a motorcycle from northeast Delhi's Seelampur area. A police officer intercepted them and asked them to stop but they took a detour and fled. After a long chase, they were finally nabbed.

Kasmuddin and others were interrogated at length, and he told the police that he learned manufacturing of illegal arms from his brother-in-law, Ramzan, in Muzaffar Nagar. He and Ramzan used to manufacture desi kattas nearly 20 years ago.

After Ramzan's death, Kasmuddin shifted to his village and resumed manufacturing of illegal arms, but was caught by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police two years later.

Three years ago, he came to Loni in Ghaziabad and started living on rent. He started a welding shop as a front to manufacture firearms, which he started supplying to Ajay and Kale, who hailed from Barvana in Baghpat. The two would further supply these firearms in Delhi, NCR, and some parts of UP.
