Three Delhi Police officers, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), were injured after a speeding Mercedes car rammed into their vehicle at the Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) flyway late on Saturday night.

According to the police, ACP Jaikishan, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Satbir Singh, and driver Constable Ramesh were on night patrol duty. Since there is no u-turn on DND towards Delhi, the police vehicle had gone ahead and was taking a u-turn from the Noida side when the speeding Mercedes hit them from the side.

The car driver was identified as Mohit Gogia, a businessman. He was on his way home in Sector 26 Noida when his car hit the patrolling van. Gogia told the police that he did not see the PCR van, and later when he applied brakes, the car skid as the road was slippery due to rain.

"Such cases usually take place late at night. Mohit was less cautious because the traffic is usually lighter at that hour," Anil Kumar Shahi, Station House Officer (SHO), Sector 20 police station, said. He further said that high-end cars have airbags, which saved Gogia from any serious head injuries, though the crash was very powerful. The car sustained severe damage.

Gogia was later arrested and a case of rash and negligent driving was registered against him at Sector 20 police station. Further investigation is underway, police said.
