A 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by a group of miscreants in Outer Delhi’s Rohini area, late on Thursday night.

Police said victim Rohit Kumar, a school dropout, used to play volleyball for a local club years ago, and also had four criminal cases pending against him, including robbery, brawl, theft and accident. He was out on bail.

According to the police, Rohit, his friend Vivek, and one more person were on way to his home when they stopped the car at the DDA market in Sector 15 area to have a couple of drinks.

Rohit’s business rival Mukesh was also drinking at the same spot with his friends Rahul, Prashant, and Shekhar. “An argument broke out between the two groups. Mukesh’s group then started attacking the others with sticks, before stabbing Rohit multiple times. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries,” a senior police officer said.

The police further said that three people have been arrested in the case and a manhunt has been launched the nab the remaining one person. The statement of Vivek, Rohit’s friend, was also recorded. Vivek claimed that the fight started after Mukesh provoked and abused him.

A case under appropriate sections has been registered and further investigation is underway.
