According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sufiyan, an air-conditioner technician, who was stabbed by Javed (37) while the former was having food at a vendor in Jafarabad Pulia.
A 23-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend with a pointed object after a scuffle broke out between the two in Northeast Delhi's Seelampur area on Monday evening. The Police have arrested the accused on Tuesday morning while he was trying to escape the city and sent him to jail.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sufiyan, an air-conditioner technician, who was stabbed by Javed (37) while the former was having food at a vendor in Jafarabad Pulia.
"On Monday morning, the Javed had come to meet Sufiyan at Jafarabad Pulia and all of a sudden the two got involved in a heated argument after which Javed left the spot. Later around 7:15 pm, while Sufiyan was eating at a nearby stall, Javed again approached him but this time the argument turned ugly and Javed allegedly picked up a pointed object from a nearby shop and stabbed it in his chest," said a senior police officer.
Passers-by rushed Sufiyan to the hospital while Javed fled the spot. Officials at the hospital said that he was brought to the hospital with a stab injury on his chest.
"The stab wound was deep which had caused damage to his heart area. He succumbed to his injuries later at night. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination," said a senior official of Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital.
Following the complaint filed by the deceased's family, a case under section 302 (murder) was registered against Javed and teams were formed to nab him.
We had got information that Javed was about to escape the city so teams were sent to the spot and he was arrested in the morning from Seelampur area," said Atul Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast).
Police said that Javed and Sufiyan are both residents of Seelampur. Some of the locals have alleged that that Javed had a previous criminal record and used to sell stolen materials.
