A 23-year-old man was allegedly shot dead in the wee hours on Saturday in Outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar area. The deceased also has a previous criminal record.

According to the police, the accused who is currently absconding has been identified and would be nabbed soon. Police officials stated that they have seized the CCTV footage from the location and with the help of the local beat staff identified the accused.

"The victim has been identified as Paras alias Sanam, a resident of Chandra Vihar area. He has a case of gambling registered against him in Hari Nagar police station," said Rajendra Sagar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Of Police, Outer Delhi.

Police officials received a call around 5 am on Saturday about a firing incident. When the police reached the location, they found Sanam lying in a pool of blood with bullet wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The crime branch team inspected the location and seized four empty cartridges from the location. His belongings were intact, hence a case of robbery prima facie has been ruled out. Police are now probing the case from the personal enmity angle.

Police officials stated that the possibility of more accused being involved can not be ruled out. A case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Nihal Vihar police station. So far, the motive behind the murder has not been established.
